It is with great sadness that I pass on the news to you that fellow rambler and friend Gordon has recently died from a heart attack. Gordon’s funeral is on Friday 29th May 2.30pm at Blackley Crematorium. No flowers please but donations on the day to the Heart Foundation. RIP Gordon, a lovely man!
Hi There, Gosh it seems like ages since I put anything on this blog, life just went and filled up!! I am really looking forward to the Xmas walk and Nosh at Park Farm! People coming on the day are: – Sandra, Julie, Gordon, Howard, Jacqueline, Von, Seamus, Amanda, Harry, Paula and Wendy, Yeah! Madhu might come on the walk but not the meal, Howard is coming to the meal but may not come on the walk! So we meet on Sunday 15th December at 10.30am (for the usual walk to the monument at Ramsbottom) at the Three Arrows car park. The meal is booked for 1.15pm at Park Farm and I have paid the deposits. The full price of the small (ha ha) meal is £13.85, so that leaves £8.85. Park Farm have asked that one person pays the whole bill so please can you have the exact money on you when you arrive, and no running off quickly after ha ha!!! Those of you that haven’t yet given me their deposit can you please pay me that separate from the £8.85, thank you. Well guys its going to be great, we will have so much catching up to do and it will be brilliant to share a ramble and meal with you all! Hugs to all, Jacqueline
Well the weather forecast for Ruthin on Sunday is cloud apart from a light rain shower at 1pm! So all systems go for Heaton Park Rambler’s last ramble! Anybody can join us on the day, we pay the driver £6 and don’t forget your butties, camera and I’ve got the binoculars. For anybody new to this walk and wondering if they can do it, well we never leave anybody behind and we even get children passing us on the way up sometimes!! Beautiful countryside with fab views and good company.See you 9.30 at the Three Arrows pub car park, Jacqueline
Hi everybody, the last walk for Heaton Park Ramblers will be on 8th Sept. A day trip to Moel Famau – please see ‘Next Walk’ for more details. – I will be holding a re-union Christmas walk and meal at Park Farm in December and if you are interested then please let me know. Take Care, Jacqueline
Heaton Park Rambler’s next walk is at Rivington Pike. Please see ‘Our Next Walk’ for more details
After five wonderful years with various members of Heaton Park Ramblers, I have decided its time for me to have a change! I have so enjoyed showing lots of lovely people the beauty that we have around us in the North, just on our doorstep too! I have shared many a special moment and place and I think the photos tell it all! My last fortnightly ramble is on the 22nd Sept and after that I am not sure whether to do a once a month day out ramble or just have a list of people who may want to walk on as an’ as and when’ thing. What do you think? However I would like to do a reunion walk and meal at Park Farm at Christmas so please let me know if you are interested! Hugs to All and hope to see some of you this Sunday along with anyone new who wishes to come too!
The forecast for today’s walk looked pretty bleak but I think in future that I will ignore that and just go ahead with our rambles!
Our next ramble is on 11th Aug and at a great spot called Cragg Vale near Mythlmroyd. Lovely countryside with a quaint village and a bit of exercise for the legs, great stuff! Also to see if we can spot a rare plant ooh! Pinguicula macroceras, I think!! Please see ‘Our Next Walk’ for more details.
Please feel free to just turn up on the day, no membership required.
Can you believe it guys ………… after all that nice weather it is going to rain, rain , rain on SUNDAY!!! ……………… Well I am not one to enjoy being soaked from start to finish so am cancelling this Sunday’s walk. Hope everybody is well and that you have enjoyed the wonderful sunshine that we have had recently and I am sure that the plants will be pleased!! Hugs to All, Jacqueline
We had a really good walk at Tandle Hill, stretching those leg muscles, good exercise and nature in its glory. The trees at the park are fabulous with a carpet of leaves from last Autumn still covering the ground, beautiful and quite atmospheric!
Hmm, well please see Our Next Walk for details of this Sunday 28th’s ramble. We will be walking at Watergrove but the weather forecast is not looking great so I will put an updated post here on Saturday when it looks a bit clearer. Not much fun walking in heavy rain!
I am looking forward to the Moel Famau walk on 8th Sept, please put a note in your diary for this great day out! Take Care, Jacqueline
What a brilliant ramble that was, last week at Carrs Wood and we didn’t leave anybody behind!! I think that you will all agree that the cafe appeared just at the right time (or is that ‘just in time’?) ha ha!
I have updated ‘Our Next Walk’ which is on Sunday 14th July and we will be walking through country lanes to Tandle Hill. Great views from the monument on a clear day! A bit of uphill, good healthy exercise for those legs and heart and lovely countryside, just the job for a Sunday afternoon.
No need to book, just turn up on the day! Cheers, Jacqueline
